Installation
Requirements
- Craft CMS 5.0 or later
- PHP 8.2 or later
- A Stripe account (for Stripe payments)
- A PayPal Business account (optional, for PayPal payments)
Install via Composer
Open your terminal and run:
composer require justinholtweb/craft-headcount
Install the Plugin
Then install the plugin via the Craft CLI:
php craft plugin/install headcount
Or navigate to Settings → Plugins in the control panel and click “Install” next to Headcount.
What Happens on Install
Headcount creates the following database tables and registers a CP section, dashboard widget, and a custom Subscription element type:
| Table | Purpose |
|---|---|
headcount_plans | Membership plan definitions |
headcount_subscriptions | Subscription element content (FK to elements) |
headcount_access_rules | Content gating rules |
headcount_drip_schedules | Drip content timing |
headcount_coupons | Discount codes |
headcount_webhook_logs | Incoming webhook event log (idempotency) |
Part of the Showtime Bundle
Headcount is also sold inside Showtime, which combines Owl Pro (events & calendars), Stub (booking & appointments), and Headcount into a single plugin and a single $249 license — against $327 for the three bought separately. If your project needs events or bookings alongside memberships, install that instead:
composer require justinholtweb/craft-showtime
Installing Showtime on a site that already runs Headcount adopts the existing install — your plans, subscribers, access rules, and coupons stay exactly where they are, and no tables are migrated. See Upgrading from a standalone plugin, and email me for credit on the Headcount license you already bought.
Next Steps
Now configure your payment gateways and webhooks, then create your first plan.
